If you read my article on my career as a glamour and nude photographer you will understand how I became a professional nude photographer and how I taught others to do the same. If you haven’t read the article, go there now and return to this article after you read that one.
My Articles On Shooting Nudes
During the time I was running our workshop program and selling some of my work to the men’s magazines, I was approached by a new publication, SCORE. It was their Premiere Issue in June 1992 and they needed some exciting and interesting content, so they approached me.
The publishers had seen my work in Juggs and Gent Magazines and asked if I would write and illustrate this series using my photos. The series title was How To Photograph Nude Models.
Note: None of the photos below were retouched in any way. These were as they were shot. A lesson in proper lighting, filters and technique
We Learn By Doing
Now really any guy back then buying a men’s magazine surely would like to learn how to meet hot women and get them to take off their cloths for their camera. I was considered one of the experts in that field so I agreed to author this series.
Unfortunately I am not able to locate Part 3 in the series, but thing you will enjoy reading the first two chapters. Simply click on the pages below and they will open up so you can read them. Download this if you want to review it when you are talking to women about posing for you, I think you will find it helpful. After all I am not a movie star by any stretch, but I never had a problem getting plenty of gals to model for me.
Of course back then there was no internet and models weren’t concerned about being exposed to millions of people the moment photos were taken. So when you hear some of the older set say, they remember the good old days, you can understand that statement in this context.
I have always told my photographer associates that unless you go out and actually do the work you will never learn how to sharpen your skills and techniques. We learn by actually doing the work and believe me setting up equipment, arranging for models and then shooting so you get the results you want is not an easy task.
An Envious Job
Many people that know me are envious of my illustrious careers. Not only as a photographer, but that of a videographer, journalist, author, sales and marketing executive and a number of other career experiences, I have learned a great deal about dealing with people.
Yes, photographing nudes is a hell of a lot better then shooting products or even a sunset, but it does take a lot of hard work to get the images you can be proud of.
Today with all the modern software like Portrait Pro and others, you can do magic with the computer. In the 1980’s the magic was done by the photographer and his models.
These photos show the before and after shots of one of my 1980’s models. No retouching done on these. I did her makeup and got her comfortable enough to get beautiful and sexy portraits.
Please take a moment to view some of my slides and images available for sale on this website. I am sure you will find them a nice addition to any collection.
